Ouanoukrim & Toubkal
In just under a week you will summit two peaks and use Toubkal Refuge as your point of start and end. This is a hard week but with two summits as well as the experience of the beautiful surrounding villages, it’s a worthwhile challenge!

Itinerary
Fly to Marrakech – depending on your arrival time, there may be some time to explore this wonderfully colourful city before our group meeting in the early evening.

We leave at around 0830 after breakfast at the hotel. travelling by minibus to Aroumd (1900m) taking approx. 1.5 hours. from there we walk approximately 6 hours to Toubkal base camp (3207m). from Aroumd, the Toubkal trail goes up the flood plain and zigzags up to make its way along, high above the gorge where we reach Sidi Chamharouch (2350m), the holy shrine. the Toubkal trail then climbs steeply in zigzags and traverses the flank of the valley well above the Mizane. it’s a steady climb up to Toubkal refuge where we stop for lunch and you can enjoy hot showers, sitting rooms and a self-catering kitchen at the refuge.

We start early at 6 am, we walk 4-5 hours to Ouanoukrime (4089m) – this is an amazing place to scramble on rocks. there are two peaks to experience ranging at 4089m (Timzguida) 4083 (ras). there will be a light snack at the peak. then it’s 2-3 hours back down to base camp.

We start at 5 am to begin the climb up Toubkal reaching 4167m which is the highest peak in Morocco. this usually takes between 4-5 hours up, where we will have a light snack, then the descent is approximately 2-3 hours. we end back at the base camp for lunch followed by another 4-hour walk down back to Aroumd village (1900m).

Today we enjoy a light walk in the village where you can experience the local culture, see the waterfall and do some shopping, the town boasts a lovely local carpet and jewellery shop. after lunch, we get back onto the minibus and drive back to Marrakech. that evening (around 5), we will gather for a last night team dinner.

Extras: you can pre-select an activity for the afternoon from the brochure provided at the start of your trip.
Today we take you by minibus back to the airport to catch your flight home. you can of course decide to stay on to explore more of Marrakech but we only provide transport back on the final morning of the trip.

What you need to do:
- Arrange travel insurance
- Check and arrange any Visa/vaccination requirements yourself
- Where camping is outlined in the itinerary, you will need to bring your own sleeping bag
What to pack:
- Clothing for both warm and cold/wet weather as well as gloves & hat (summits are very different environments).
- You should always carry rain clothing in your day pack as you never know…
- Water bottle including water purification tablets
- Appropriate season sleeping bag & travel pillow
- Day bag to allow you to carry spare clothing, food and water whilst hiking
- Strong walking boots with good ankle support and tread
- Travel towel, soap, toilet paper for use whilst camping and at refuges
- Torch (flashlight) & adaptors
- Walking poles if needed
* Please note that along the way, you will passing very traditional villages, so it would be good to keep shoulders and knees covered.
